ventureLAB’s Hardware Catalyst Initiative is Canada’s only hardware and semiconductor-focused lab and incubator. Funded in part by the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), we work with companies building foundational technologies in transformative sectors like AI, quantum computing, 5G, IoT, UAV, virtual reality, and beyond. With a state-of-the-art $7 million lab with specialized equipment all under one roof, product developers gain access to prototyping and testing facilities to transform concepts and challenges into new products. This enables emerging tech companies in Southern Ontario to be a step closer to becoming competitors in the $7 trillion global semiconductor market.

Hardware and Semiconductor-Focused Lab in Canada
The HCI Lab increases the capabilities for technology companies to develop, build, test, and manufacture innovative products, at a speed not previously possible in Canada.
As part of the Hardware Catalyst Initiative and Tech Undivided program, the HCI Lab is available to cohort companies at no cost. It is also available to Innovation Space tenants and members at a discounted rate. Once ventureLAB reopens to external guests as part of our return to office framework, hardware and semiconductor-focused businesses across Canada will be able to fully access the HCI Lab at competitive rates.

Test your early design functionality, performance, and characterisation.
Uncover product design defects early. Debug and de-risk your product design and fix issues long before the product is released for external trials or customers. Gain confidence in the functionality of the product. Drive rapid and continual delivery of product improvements.
Validate pre-production product design functionality, performance and reliability. Identify gaps in the production process through a pre-production evaluation of your product. Confirm your product can be produced at volume and target cost through rigorous testing.

We are located in Markham, Ontario with over 50,000 square feet of Innovation Space designed for tech startups. The Hardware Catalyst Lab is a 2,200 square foot world-class lab with large testing benches, specialized testing areas, shared offices, and community spaces – everything tech startups need to develop, build, test, and manufacture innovative products. Our inventory of equipment has been curated to tackle the complexities of hardware prototype testing. If we don’t have it, we have expanded our global and local partnerships to access almost any equipment you may need.
