Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) and ventureLAB are pleased to be co-hosting a guest lecture by Dr. Dieter Wegener, Vice President, Advanced Technologies & Standards at Siemens AG (Munich, Germany), and a leading expert in Industry 4.0 and digital factory.
Dr. Wegener will be speaking at the IBM Innovation Space – Markham Convergence Centre on Wednesday November 22, covering topics such as innovation at Siemens, and the use of multi-stakeholder collaboration models under an open innovation framework. He will also be providing insights about the German Industry 4.0 strategy, its implementation processes, and Siemens’ best practices in this area.
The event is open to the SME and academic communities, and other stakeholders with an interest in advanced manufacturing.

Dr. Dieter Wegener is the Head of External Cooperation at Siemens AG, Corporate Technology, in Munich, Germany.
After graduating in Aeronautical and Aerospace Technology, Dr. Wegener worked as a scientist at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). After four years as a consultant for McKinsey he joined Siemens in 1996 as Head of Gasturbine Engineering at “Power Generation”.
During his career with Siemens he has held different positions, including Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Industry Solutions division, VP Advanced Technologies & Standards for Industry Sector, and Head of the Industry 4.0 Office for Siemens’ Digital Factory division.
In terms of other external responsibilities, Dr. Wegener is Speaker of the Industry 4.0 Leadership Circle for ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers‘ Association), Vice-President DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies), Executive Board
Member at Digital Europe, and Speaker of the Advisory Board “Standardization Council Industrie 4.0 (SCI.40)”.
