Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing, with a keen interest in the medical device industry. You’ll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop, refine, and manufacture prosthetic solutions that change lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development and Testing:
- Conceptualize, design, and optimize mechanical components and systems for prosthetic
devices. - Use CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360) to create and refine designs.
- Develop prototypes using additive manufacturing, machining, or other methods.
- Conduct and document functional, durability, and fatigue testing.
- Ensure compliance with relevant medical device regulations and standards (e.g., ISO
13485, FDA).
- Manufacturing & Assembly:
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners on design-for-manufacture and assembly
processes. - Create engineering drawings, bill of materials, and detailed documentation.
- Oversee prototype and production runs to ensure quality and reliability.
- Collaboration & Innovation:
- Work closely with clinical advisors, users, and other stakeholders to iterate and improve
product designs. - Stay updated on emerging technologies and incorporate them into product
development. - Collaborate with in-house and contracted team members on both iterative and new
product development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in product development (medical devices, prosthetics or related
field preferred).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with materials commonly used in prosthetics (e.g., metals, polymers,
composites). - Hands-on experience with traditional subtractive and/or additive manufacturing.
- Experience with common cyclic loading fatigue tests and quality assurance practices.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong independent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Adaptable between upbeat pace of innovation, and steady, measured, principled
