Back-End Developer

About the Opportunity
In-person visits are no longer the best way to tour physical spaces like Universities and Colleges, co-working spaces, hotels, concert halls, and more. At Beyond Media, our Circuit Virtual Tour
platform powers immersive virtual tours of physical spaces across the world. Circuit integrates visual content, audio, and maps together inside a cohesive interactive experience. With significant
momentum behind us, we’re building the most sophisticated content platform for showcasing physical spaces.


Your Role

The Back-End Developer (Django) role is core to our product. Your focus will be on the development of back-end logic, admin user interfaces, and APIs. You’ll be working with a small and
nimble team of product managers, designers, and developers to grow, refine and enhance our platform. If you’re an ambitious self-starter inspired by interactive projects and tough technical
challenges, join our team in building the de facto solution for immersive digital experiences.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing robust, performant back-end logic and functionality
  • Building client-facing administrative interfaces for editors and tour builders with coherent
    styling and markup
  • Develop RESTful APIs to support the platform’s front-end
  • Crafting reusable code and writing documentation for future use for efficient
  • Contributing ideas, discussing approaches, conveying technical priorities and working as
    an integral part of a small team

Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or education in technology, web development
  • Proficient knowledge of Django
  • Understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (markup, styling, light Javascript, awareness of
    browser compatibility)



  • Confidence in Python and with core Django concepts and libraries (ORM, migrations, DRF,
    routing, templating)
  • Ability to work with HTML, some Javascript, styling (CSS, SASS)
  • Additional technologies where knowledge is useful: AWS (S3, CloudFront), Celery, Redis, PostgreSQL, Wagtail (Django CMS)
  • Exposure to front-end build tools such as Webpack is an asset, as well as experience with ReactJS
