Senior Manager, Marketing

Are you a marketing generalist with a penchant for building brands and translating data into meaningful stories? Are you a collaborative, results-oriented problem solver who enjoys working with like-minded people? ventureLAB is looking for a Senior Manager, Marketing to join our team!


The Opportunity

As the Senior Manager, Marketing you will lead the development and execution of ventureLAB’s brand, content, and digital campaigns during an exciting time of rapid growth and expansion.


Reporting to Director of External Relations and Communications, you are someone who is a creative storyteller, able to connect people with our brand, build narratives around ventureLAB’s products and client companies by creating compelling content experiences across our digital channels. The Senior Manager will work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other departments to uncover and share ventureLAB stories.

You are a marketing generalist, team player, doer and strategic thinker. You have a versatile, engaging voice, a keen eye for detail, and you love digging into facts and data to tell an engaging story.

We are looking for someone who can champion and communicate ventureLAB’s mission, vision, impact, and values for diverse audiences.


What You’ll Work On: 

  • Own ventureLAB’s brand and marketing assets, with responsibility for organization-wide adherence to brand standards and visual identity guidelines
  • Develop, plan, and execute a content marketing calendar, identifying key opportunities aligned with organizational goals, programs, and strategic and external events
  • Working collaboratively with the Venture Growth and Programs teams, identify original content opportunities for news items and success stories for ventureLAB’s digital channels
  • Work with the Manager, Business Analysis to create quarterly impact reports for public dissemination, and turn data points into compelling stories
  • Management and strategic development of ventureLAB’s social media platforms and presence
  • Management of ventureLAB’s websites and overall digital presence
  • Oversee ventureLAB’s digital channels, ensuring up-to date and relevant content is posted on a daily basis, including website, social media channels, and email newsletter
  • Gather, write, and send content for the weekly internal staff newsletter.
  • Track, resolve, and/or escalate key issues, and manage internal and external expectations appropriately, ensuring the Director is informed of all critical issues on a timely basis.
  • Development of digital and printed marketing materials, including but not limited to information materials, corporate communications materials, trade show materials and digital assets.
  • Responsible for 2-3 direct reports.



  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, or a minimum of 3-5 years equivalent experience working in marketing, communications, or a related field, preferably in a not-for-profit environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with experience in writing marketing and communications related copy for diverse audiences across multiple platforms
  • High proficiency with web and social media platforms including Hootsuite or similar, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Google Analytics
  • High proficiency in Google Suite, Google Analytics, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with WordPress and basic knowledge of HTML
  • Solid competency in measuring performance of digital communications, social media and websites
  • Strong project management skills and ability to meet project deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal, active listening, and presentation skills
  • Ability to establish priorities and handle multiple assignments in an ever-evolving work environment
  • Demonstrated high level of internal and external customer service
  • Strong team player, who can also work independently, with an excellent track record of success in matrixed, fast-paced environments

Additional Assets

  • Practical knowledge and ability in photography and basic video creation/editing
  • Knowledge of or familiarity with video, GIFs and motion graphics production
  • Familiarity with Ontario’s innovation ecosystem and/or tech sector
  • Demonstrated interest in innovation, technology, and/or entrepreneurship
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM software


Compensation: $60,000-$65,000 per annum with comprehensive benefits and vacation package.
