York Region announces NewMakeIt Tech Hub

NewMakeIt is a new state-of-the art tech hub, opening its doors in Newmarket on February 1, 2016.  It is a new self-service tech hub that will provide York Region residents, entrepreneurs, innovators and artists with a collaborative, creative-learning space that fuels inspiration, provides guidance and enables the sharing of ideas.

NewMakeIt offers a Makerspace, featuring state-of-the-art tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC tools and electronics.  Memberships are available. Check out the space at the York Region Makers Meet Up on Thursday, January 21, at 7:00PM, at 1310 Kerrisdale Boulevard, Unit 18 in Newmarket. For more information, email [email protected].

Workshops and a co-working space will also be offered starting in mid-February.

NewMakeIt is being operated by York Region Makers, a coalition of innovators. The Province of Ontario, the Regional Municipality of York and the Town of Newmarket will invest $139,000 in the facility.

NewMakeIt is a great addition to York Region’s vibrant high-tech start-up culture.
