COVID-19 Update

March 16, 2020

In response to the impacts of COVID-19, ventureLAB has implemented a number of policies and precautions to ensure the health and safety of our team and tenants, their families, and our broader community.

Last Updated June 25

At ventureLAB, we are committed to creating an exceptional experience for each and every one of our stakeholders, and we do that in part by ensuring the health, wellness, and safety of everyone who plays a role in our innovation ecosystem: our founders, tenants, partners, post-secondary institutions, team, and board. Together, we are supporting our local, provincial, and federal public health officials through awareness, enhanced protocol and procedures within our innovation space, and making our decisions based on the latest facts and data.

Our team has been monitoring the COVID-19 with prudent caution and pragmatism, which has included facilitating an increased awareness for our staff and tenants about COVID-19 guidelines – sourced from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Ontario Ministry of Health, and York Region Public Health.

The following policy changes have been made in our operations and are subject to change, as we continuously monitor and evaluate the situation, pending guidance from public health and government officials.

Updated policies, effective July 30th, 2020:

  • Work-from-home policy extended to August 4th, 2020 for all ventureLAB staff, to ensure we continue to proactively ensure the health and safety of our staff, tenants, their families, and our community.
  • ventureLAB’s Innovation Space will be closed to the public until at least August 4th, 2020.
  • All events, workshops, and meetings will be moved to digital formats or postponed until at least August 4th, 2020.
  • Suspending ventureLAB’s attendance at external events and work-related travel until at least August 4th, 2020.

We are continuously monitoring and updating our policies based on the latest updates and evidence from our public health experts:

We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to share regular updates and changes to our policy as the status of COVID-19 changes.

As we slowly start to re-open, we are safely and cautiously easing restrictions, but our hub remains closed to the general public and staff continue to WFH.
