In celebration of International Women’s Day 2020, we’re taking the opportunity to introduce you to the Tech Undivided inaugural cohort. We sat down with these trailblazing leaders to learn about what they do, how they measure success, and what it means to be a leader today. Yvonne Lau is the Founder of Retainify. Retainify's mission is to help organizations make feedback normal in the workplace. Their unified SaaS solution helps companies increase the frequency of giving and receiving feedback by tracking the sentiment of employees throughout their employment lifecycle and sharing the feedback data back to business leaders. Improving the frequency of feedback helps organizations proactively identify and address issues early to mitigate business risks. Read more interviews in this series here.

Why is now the time for your company to exist?

Feedback is not normal in the workplace because the word feedback has a negative connotation to it. In the world driven by technology today, it's easy to hide behind communication tools such as email and text and avoid having face to face conversations. Retainify's strategy and technology are designed to encourage consistent feedback so that we become better at giving and receiving feedback, and we all need feedback to improve. Our technology doesn't replace relationships but acts as a catalyst to initiate more dialogue between people who work together.

How do you measure success?

When feedback is normal: when companies collect and review their employee feedback data as frequently as they do their financial data.

What does it mean to be a leader today?

Being a leader today means you are a decent human being. It’s really as simple as that.

Forget IQ and EQ. You can be the smartest person in the room but if you are not a decent human being, nobody wants to work with or for you.
