The McMaster Physical Activity Centre of Excellence (PACE) and ForaHealthyMe Inc., are pleased to announce their collaboration on a research project designed to enhance the use of computer vision-enabled rehabilitation protocols for the elderly and patients. The ForaHealthyMe Inc., virtual rehab solution uses computer vision-technologies that are enhanced with artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. The research and innovation include embedding established clinical protocols into a computer system to develop new approaches to treat and support patients with chronic health issues such as musculoskeletal surgery, and in need of rehabilitation support. Funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), researchers will assess the ability of the ForaHealthyMe system to accurately capture, process and output data for general mobility, pre- and post-operation support among physiotherapy rehabilitation users. “This is the beginning of what we hope is a great partnership between PACE and ForaHealthyMe. With our growing aging population, we require innovative solutions for delivery of rehabilitation services, and we believe ForaHealthyMe delivers just that. We are very excited to begin this work,” states Dr. Stuart Phillips, Professor and Canada Research Chair in Skeletal Muscle Health & the Director of the Physical Activity Centre of Excellence (PACE). “The results of the research project will enable the optimization of the technology for patient care within Canadian hospitals. This includes enabling a support system to enhance patient rehab care, improve health outcomes, quality of life & cost-effective care,” states Courtney Cole, CEO, ForaHealthyMe Inc. The main deliverable of the project will be a model of care that is patient-centric, more cost effective and efficient to deliver using advanced digital technology and outcomes driven analytical models.
