We’re excited to share that ventureLAB has been invited to participate in the prestigious Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit in Serbia next week. Our Chief AI Advisor, Garry Chan, will be speaking on the panel: Collaborative Innovation: Partnerships Between Academia, Industry, and Government.
GPAI is an international initiative launched in 2020 to guide the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence. Canada played a foundational role in establishing GPAI, alongside France, as part of its commitment to global leadership in ethical AI development. This initiative aligns closely with Canada’s broader contributions to advancing AI, including the development of the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy, the first of its kind globally. GPAI embodies Canada’s dedication to fostering international collaboration and ensuring that AI is harnessed to solve pressing global challenges while prioritizing equity, transparency, and human rights.
In line with these commitments, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, recently announced the launch of the Canadian Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (CAISI). This institute aims to bolster Canada’s capacity to address AI safety risks, further positioning the country as a leader in the safe and responsible development and adoption of AI technologies.
At ventureLAB, we’ve seen firsthand how collaborative innovation drives impactful results. Through our Accelerate AI program, we provide integrated, multi-dimensional support to more than 40 Ai companies already in the market with product-market fit and active customers. These companies leverage our commercialization expertise to expand their AI capabilities or infuse AI into legacy software, enabling them to compete in rapidly evolving markets. Our efforts focus on building an ethical and responsible foundation for AI productization and commercialization. By recruiting companies committed to responsible AI, facilitating peer collaboration within cohorts, and embedding ethical practices into business strategies, we ensure that innovation aligns with societal values while delivering scalable, impactful solutions.
The panel Garry is participating in at GPAI Summit will explore the vital role of partnerships between academia, industry, and government in driving innovation and addressing complex societal challenges. Collaborative innovation is at the heart of how breakthrough technologies are developed and scaled. The discussion will highlight successful models of collaboration that have maximized the impact of AI, demonstrating the importance of alignment across sectors to accelerate progress.
ventureLAB is honoured to contribute to this important conversation, bringing our unique perspective as an organization that bridges hardware, AI, entrepreneurship, and policy within Canada’s thriving innovation ecosystem. Our participation reflects our commitment to advancing innovation through collaboration, not just locally, but globally.
Stay tuned for updates from the summit and insights from the panel discussion as we share our vision for collaborative innovation and the future of AI!
