As we reflect on 2024, ventureLAB celebrates a year marked by significant achievements in advancing Canada's innovation ecosystem, particularly in semiconductors, AI, and MedTech. Our commitment to fostering responsible, ethical, and sustainable innovation has positioned us as a leading partner for founders, investors, academia, and other stakeholders.
We expanded our international footprint through partnerships with numerous countries, including our first with South Korea’s Seoul Business Agency and a key collaboration with Serbia’s Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation. These alliances are opening doors for Canadian companies in new global markets.
ventureLAB also celebrated five years of the Hardware Catalyst Initiative, Canada’s only hardware and semiconductor-focused incubator, supporting some of the country’s most promising tech founders. Our MedTech stream saw continued growth with new programs and strategic collaborations, including a partnership with Sterling Industries to accelerate medical device development in Ontario.
In November, we hosted our largest HardTech Summit yet, bringing together over 1,100 attendees, including investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers. And for the first time ever, we launched CHIPS Month to highlight the critical importance of Canada’s semiconductor ecosystem.
As we look ahead to 2025, our commitment remains strong: to back bold founders, scale globally competitive ventures, and build a thriving, sustainable tech ecosystem in Canada.
